SeeleSeek connects to the official Soulseek server at server.slsknet.org:2242. You need a free Soulseek account to use the network.

Create a Soulseek account

If you do not have an account yet, register at slsknet.org. Account creation is free and only requires a username and password.
Your Soulseek credentials are the same ones you use in any other Soulseek client. If you already use Nicotine+ or the official Soulseek client, use the same username and password in SeeleSeek.

Log in to SeeleSeek

Open SeeleSeek

Launch SeeleSeek from Launchpad or your Applications folder. The login screen appears automatically when you are not connected.You can also open the login screen at any time from the menu bar: Connection → Connect… (⌘K).

Enter your credentials

Type your Soulseek username and password in the fields provided. Enable Remember me to have SeeleSeek save your credentials securely in the macOS Keychain for future sessions.

Click Connect

Click the Connect button. SeeleSeek will connect to server.slsknet.org:2242 and log you in. The login screen will close and the main window will appear once the connection is established.

Connection status

The connection status is shown in several places in the app:
  • Status badge — a colored indicator in the sidebar and toolbar shows your current connection state at a glance.
  • Connection panel — open the Connection section in the sidebar to see your username, server IP, and the server greeting message.
  • Error messages — if the connection fails, an error message is shown on the login screen and in the Connection panel.

Auto-reconnect

If the connection drops unexpectedly, SeeleSeek will automatically attempt to reconnect using exponential backoff:

While reconnecting, the status will show Reconnecting and the reason for the disconnect if one is available. In-progress downloads will resume automatically once the connection is restored.
To stop the auto-reconnect loop, disconnect manually using Connection → Disconnect (⌘⇧D) or the Disconnect button in the Connection panel.

Disconnect manually

You can disconnect at any time using any of the following methods:
  • Menu bar: Connection → Disconnect (⌘⇧D)
  • Connection panel: Click the Disconnect button in the Connection section of the sidebar.
The Disconnect menu item and button are only active when you are connected.
